For the first time in five years, the official U.S. poverty rate increased in 2020, particularly affecting children 18 and under (Census.gov, Sept. 2021). This means that there are families who struggle to meet the basic needs of their children-- often having to send their children to school without lunch, well-fitting clothes, or even school supplies. Children going to school without having their basic needs met makes them more vulnerable to underperforming in school alongside impacting their self-confidence.
Fortunately for school-aged children in Missouri,Care to Learn is an organization dedicated to providing private and immediate funding so every student has access to health, hunger, and hygiene resources necessary to be successful in school.
Established in 2008 with the vision that all students should have the confidence, self-worth, and resources required to maximize their learning potential, Care to Learn has met over 1,500,000 health, hunger, and hygiene needs of Missouri students. They’ve provided glasses, toothbrushes, meals, clothes, shoes, and more to students allowing them to re-center their focus in the classroom. Care to Learn is passionate in making sure that the kids who do need help feel like the ones who don’t.
What is HALOLIFE Doing to Help?
Our HALOLIFE+ program was created to empower charitable, non-profit, and community organizations to better support the communities they serve. We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered up with Care to Learn in honor of Happy Lung Month --a time when children and their families around the nation focus on how to protect themselves from harmful air pollutants. On October 27, a portion of all HALOmask proceeds will be donated to Care to Learn to help their 38 chapters give the students they serve a healthier and happier school experience.
